Want to convert an image to SVG online without uploading the file to someone else’s server?
This howtoany guide walks through Alvseike Image to SVG: drop a local PNG, JPG, or WebP, tune colours and detail, then download real vector paths — all in your browser.
What you get
A useful image-to-SVG tool should stay private and produce paths you can open in design apps. Alvseike Image to SVG lets you:
- Source — PNG, JPG, or WebP flat artwork (logos, icons, screenshots, line art, stickers); transparent PNGs and semi-transparent pixels are handled
- Detail — Sharp for crisp icons, Smooth for scanned line art, Pixel-exact for pixel art
- Colours — set a colour count; shared-edge tracing so neighbours share the same edge and you avoid hairline gaps
- Background — Drop the background is on by default when one colour surrounds the artwork
- Output — plain SVG paths for Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape, Affinity, or the web (no fixed width or height)
Tracing stays on your device and the finished SVG downloads straight away.
Steps
Get a flat logo or icon (PNG, JPG, or WebP). Stick to solid shapes and clear edges — logos, icons, screenshots, line art, or stickers. Avoid photos; the tool warns on photographic images.
Open Alvseike Image to SVG and drop the file. Go to
alvseike.com/tools/image-to-svg
. Drop the image onto the tool. The file loads from your device; it is not uploaded.
Set colours and detail. Choose a colour count and Sharp, Smooth, or Pixel-exact. Keep or drop the background — Drop the background is on by default when one colour surrounds the artwork.
Zoom, check edges, and download the SVG. Zoom the preview to check edges and shared colours. When it looks right, download the plain SVG paths for Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape, Affinity, or the web.
When a no-upload SVG helps
- Logos and icons you want as real vectors without sending brand files to a third-party uploader
- Screenshots and UI chrome that need crisp, scalable paths
- Stickers and line art for print or the web
- Pixel art you want to keep on a grid with Pixel-exact mode
Keep the original raster. SVG is great for scaling and editing; you may still want the source PNG or JPG later.
Tips
- Prefer flat artwork with clear colour boundaries — photos rarely trace cleanly.
- Start with fewer colours if the preview looks noisy, then raise the count if you need more detail.
- Zoom in before you download so shared edges and background drop look right.
- Need a still edit first? See how to remove a photo background online or crop an image online.
